This photograph shows the typical skin rash caused by the mites associated with a human case of canine scabies. If an animal is infested with scabies, or mange, and comes in close contact with humans, the mites can get under the skin causing itching and irritation. However, this form of scabies is mild, and the mites die in a couple of days without reproducing. Skin, Skin and Connective Tissue Diseases, Parasitic Diseases, Scabies Picture & text from CDC/PHIL.
