Friends of the Libraries

The Friends of the University of Iowa Libraries is an association of individuals committed to the enrichment and growth of the University Libraries. Established in 1964, it is one of the oldest such organizations affiliated with a university library. The Friends are individuals who, through their annual contributions, demonstrate their conviction that a strong and active library is essential, reflecting the strength of the University as a whole.

Support of the University Libraries recognizes that the influence of a great research library reaches beyond the university to the many other communities of which it is a part — the larger academic and library community, the world of business and health care, and to all institutions and individuals who are the beneficiaries of its resources, particularly the citizens of Iowa.

Annual Recognition Levels

• Library Excellence Club: $5,000 or more (see below)
• University Librarian’s Club: $1,000 - 4,999
• Fellow: $500 – 999
• Friend: $100 - 499

• Members of the Library Excellence Club are set apart as a group for their exceptional commitment to the University Libraries.
• All donors are invited to special events and programs.
• Donors who make gifts of $100 or more are recognized in the Annual Honor Roll of contributors.
• Gifts to the UI Foundation, the University of Iowa’s preferred channel for private support, qualify as charitable contributions to an IRC sec. 501(c)(3) organization for federal income, estate, and gift tax purposes.
• Your employer or your spouse’s employer may multiply your contribution through a matching gift program. Please ask your human resources director for the appropriate form and return it with your contribution.
