Hope Barton has been a librarian at the University of Iowa Libraries since 1986, coming to the Libraries from the Temple University Dental-Pharmacy Library. She worked in several increasingly responsible positions at the Hardin Library for the Health Sciences before becoming Director for Central Technical Services in 2006. Ms. Barton has a M.A. in English from Muhlenberg College and a M.S.L.S. from Rutgers University. She has been active in the Medical Library Association, serving on and chairing a number of committees. She has also authored and co-authored a number of articles and chapters on a variety of library topics. Special areas of interest include changing patterns of patron access and use in the increasingly digital information environment and open access and scholarly publishing.
