
Susan Marks has been a librarian in the University of Iowa Libraries since 1972. She worked in several increasingly responsible positions in Access Services and has served in her current position since 2001. She has authored or co-authored articles in American Libraries and the Journal of Library Administration and served as Principal Investigator for a $392,000 inter-institutional grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services dealing with the recruitment and education of university librarians in the sciences and health sciences. She has been active in the American Library Association, serving on and chairing a number of committees and discussion groups focusing, in recent years, on human resources and diversity-related issue in academic libraries. She also serves on University and Libraries’ committees addressing these issues. Ms. Marks’ undergraduate degree is in English and History; both her B.A. and M.L.S. are from the University of Illinois.
