Nancy H. Seamans

Nan Seamans
Nancy H. Seamans has worked at several different kinds of libraries – academic, health sciences, corporate and public – during her career. The common thread has been her commitment to serving library users in an era of rapid change in the technology of information retrieval. Dr. Seamans came to the University of Iowa Libraries in March 2005 from Virginia Tech, where she most recently had been director of instruction, reference, and outreach for the libraries there. She is the author or co-author of journal articles that have appeared in College and Research Libraries and Reference Services Review, and has served on committees of the Instruction Section (IS) of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) as well as committees of the Virginia Library Association (VLA). Dr. Seamans' research interests have included information literacy, electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs), and assessment of library teaching. Dr. Seamans’ undergraduate degree, in political science, is from Virginia Tech; her M.S.L.S., is from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill; and her Ph.D., in instructional technology, is from Virginia Tech.
