Below you will find links to lists of journal and other serial titles proposed for cancellation after consultation with faculty in affected departments. To ensure that the entire campus community is able to review the proposed cancellations, we would like to solicit your input on the proposed cancellations, due no later than Friday, May 11th, 2007.
Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences Cancellations
If you wish to make an argument against the cancellation of a particular title, please list the title and the reason for your objection, along with your name, department or college, and contact information. We would prefer to have comments by email sent to Edward Shreeves, Associate University Librarian and Director, Collections and Content Development (edward-shreeves@uiowa.edu) but written comments are also acceptable. Send them to Shreeves at 100 Main Library.
We will make every effort to accommodate justified objections, but the budget circumstances that led to this project make it unlikely that we can accede to them all.
The lists below are divided into two broad subject arrangements, Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences on the one hand, and Science (including Health Sciences) and Technology on the other. In addition the proposed cancellations are of two types, which are presented on separate lists. First, outright cancellations, where the title cancelled will no longer be available (except by interlibrary loan or similar means). Second, cancellation of print editions only, with continued access to the electronic version. These are proposed most typically in cases where the electronic edition offers archival rights to continuing access and eliminating print saves money as well as space and processing time.
Please remember the deadline for comments: Friday, May 18, 2007.
