Digital Research & Publishing - The University of Iowa Libraries

Conference-management platform

Interested in capturing and displaying scholarship from conferences or symposia?
Need help managing calls for papers, online submissions, and peer-review workflows?

Our new conference-management platform can accommodate one-time-only and repeat scholarly events, large multi-track events and single session symposia, new content as well as content from past events. This service is part of a larger one at the Libraries to help advance scholarly publishing. All proceedings managed on this platform are accessible through Iowa Research Online, a dynamic archive of the research produced by faculty, researchers, and students, from published articles in peer-reviewed journals to presentations, theses, dissertations, and unpublished papers.

Our services include:

  • software demonstrations and training
  • creating a customized web site for your event, hosted by Iowa Research Online
  • migrating conference proceedings into your site
  • helping you draft copyright guidelines
  • offering long-term digital preservation
  • managing software upgrades and customer support

Types of conferences supported:

  • academic conferences sponsored by a University of Iowa department, research unit, or center
  • professional and scholarly society conferences organized by University of Iowa faculty and staff

Using our software, you can:

  • accept online submissions and assign them to event managers
  • manage and publish schedules, including multi-track events
  • simplify management of the peer-review process by tracking reviewer activity, automatically emailing appropriate reminders, and allowing for anonymous correspondence between reviewer and submitter
  • publish an iCal-compatible program schedule
  • export content to submit to printer for bound programs
  • publish conference papers, proceedings, and abstracts as fully indexed and searchable PDFs
  • include non-print media such as images, audio, and video
  • offer e-mail alerts, RSS feeds, and calendar synching to participants/attendees
  • allow presenters/participants to upload their own supplementary material before/during/after the conference
  • generate usage reports
