Historical Abstracts Restricted Resource - UI Access Only
Historical Abstracts offers coverage of world history, from 1450 onward, outside the US and Canada. (The companion index for those countries is America: History and Life). Historical Abstracts provides citations with abstracts to articles in over 1,700 journals, published 1954 to the present. It also contains bibliographic citations to books and dissertations.

This guide was created to serve the needs of scholars, students, and interested individuals in finding and using internet resources dealing with the Middle East. In this document the Middle East is defined very broadly including Mauritania (west), Pakistan (east), Somalia (south), and the Central Asian Republics (north).

The Encyclopaedia of Islam Restricted Resource - UI Access Only
The Encyclopaedia of Islam sets out the present state of our knowledge of the Islamic World from religion and history to politics and culture. It includes articles on distinguished Muslims of every age and land, on tribes and dynasties, on the crafts and sciences, on political and religious institutions, on the geography, ethnography, flora and fauna of the various countries and on the history, topography and monuments of the major towns and cities. Its geographical and historical scope encompasses the old Arabo-Islamic empire, the Islamic countries of Iran, Central Asia, the Indian sub-continent and Indonesia, the Ottoman Empire and all modern Islamic states.
