A pop-up book depicting the history of printing in humorous verse. Six illustrations with moving parts. Black leather with ties. Enclosed in drawer and box. Fits into a drawer which also has a tiny stamp album containing two U.S. stamps showing printing presses. The drawer slides into the case of black and brown morocco, decorated with a miniature chase into which the title is spelled out with real Goudy 30 type and locked with miniature furniture. No. 14 of 40 signed by Poole.

COLOPHON: After 120 years Anderson's words were set in Caslon type by Charles Press, Inc., N.Y. Camera Graphics, Inc., N.Y., reproduced Anderson's illustrations and made offset plates. Charles Press printed 500 sheets of Bergstrom's Hilding paper which was sent to London to be bound by T.C. Woolnough and Son, Ltd. J.R.L. had the pleasure of designing this book and publishing it . #150 of 500 copies. Cloth and marbled boards.

COLOPHON: This book was set in California type by Walter T. Armstrong, Inc. Photographs were taken by the author, Richard H. Barnes. Reductions of the photographs and the complete book for this miniature edition was accomplished by Spectracolor Reynolds Publishers. The paper is 70# Warren Patina Matte, acid free. Layout and printing in black and white and color was produced by offset lithography at Spectracolor Reynolds Publishers. Binding, engraving and finishing were done by Richard H. Barnes, bookbinder. Bound by Don Brady.  No.17. Signed by Francis X. Harrigan. Bound in a bright red cloth over boards, front cover gilt-stamped and on spine. Pictorial end papers in pink, blue, and white. Several illustrations. A fold-out reproduction of a Maryland one dollar bill printed by Anne Catharine Green printed in 1770. Another fold-out of a reduced masthead of the Maryland Journal and the Baltimore Advertiser, dated June 21, 1775.

COLOPHON: 75 copies numbered and signed. Fan binding by D'Ambrosio . Edition of 75 copies in book form and 75 copies available in print format. Decorative brown paper over boards with ribbon ties. A selection of original etchings mounted on pages numbered and signed by the artist. D'Ambrosio has designed a unique binding that allows the book to open up as a full circle (seven sided) providing a miniature art gallery. The print is supplied matted and the overall image size is 2 3/4" x 2 1/4". 12 of the views measure 1/2" x 1/2" with one view 1 1/4" x 1". The book incorporates these views which have been cut to size and individually mounted on separate pages. All of the etchings have been printed by the artist from a copper plate and are exceptional jewel-like scenes of a book store, hummingbird, owl, printing press, and other typical ex libris plates. Scott Fitzgerald has signed and numbered the edition on the view of the book store. D'Ambrosio has also signed the book version at the bottom of the back cover.

Hunter, Dard. The Making of Books: The Lost Art of Making Books, Ancient Paper Making, and Seventeenth Century Type-Making . 4 vol. Chillicothe, OH, Mountain House Press, 1987. 1 7/8" x 5 16".

COLOPHON: Of these four miniature books 50 copies have been imprinted by Dard Hunter II at the Mountain House Press, Chillicothe, OH, MCMLXXXVII, and bound by Gray Parrot. This is copy number 16. Of which only 40 will be for sale . These three essays originally appeared in two Kansas City periodicals The Miscellany and The Quarterly Notebook in 1915 and 1916. Hunter designed and printed one copy of these pieces with a special title page drawn by him in pen and ink. Each essay represents Hunter's first published appearance on the topic. This set of miniature books was printed letterpress by Dard Hunter II using photographically reduced plates of the text. The original texts were set in hand-cut types by Dard Hunter and Dard Hunter II. Each book has a frontispiece showing a different paper mill of Hunter's as well as a reduction of his original title page. All are printed on paper made at the mill at Lime Rock, CT, in 1932, probably the last paper made by Hunter. The fourth volume contains paper specimens in a variety of styles and colors made by Hunter in his mill in Marborough, NY, between 1914 and 1917. Owing to the scarcity of these papers, Dard Hunter II decided to issue this collection of his father's earliest writings as miniature books. Each volume is bound in full brown morocco with gilt titles by Gray Parrot and housed together in a full morocco matching slipcase.

COLOPHON: Elaine Koretsky traveled in Nepal and India in January-February, 1978. She has also spent time in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Philippines, Morocco, Kenya and Egypt, involved in papermaking research, particularly in the field of fibers and natural dyes. These 200 copies were stamped by the publisher . No. 159 of 200 copies.

COLOPHON: The text is mainly translated from Mr. Pan's publications with his permission. The cover is a ceremonial paper oiled and decorated with tinfoil. Printed on Chinese bamboo papers. Signed by Francis X. Harrigan. Bound in brown cloth over boards with gilt-stamped titling on the front and spine. Endpapers are in a lighter shade of brown and the back inside cover has a pocket containing samples of metal type - 7 pt and 10 pt - which will illustrate the sizes used by Mark Twain when he was learning the printing trade. Twain delivered this speech to a printer's dinner meeting at Delmonico's in New York City on January 18, 1886. Frontispiece is facsimile 1940 U.S. commemorative stamp bearing likeness of Samuel L. Clemens. Another illustration shows a compositor at work. Title page is printed in red and black.
