The Geoscience Library has over 57,000 volumes to support research, study and teaching, including publications of state, U.S. and international geological surveys, field trip guidebooks and Geoscience Dept theses.
The collection also has over 71,000 geological maps from around the world and has a strong collection of paleontological materials. The Geoscience Library holds the most current U.S. topographic quadrangle maps. Older editions are housed in the Map Collection, Main Library.
There are over 850 CD-roms available for checkout, including 3-D topographic quadrangle maps of the U.S.
The Geoscience Library offers an Electronic Reference Service that enables members of the University community to ask questions requiring short answers by using electronic mail. The address is lib-geoscience@uiowa.edu
