ASI refers to both the non-depository microfiche set* and the finding aid

Comprehensive guide to statistical publications of the U.S. government. More than 5,000 titles and 500 periodicals are abstracted and micropublished each year. Covers statistical publications of federal executive departments and agencies, quasi-official agencies, the federal court system and judicial organizations, special boards, committees and commissions of the U.S. Congress. Excluded are scientific and technical data, contract studies, classified and confidential data, and Congressional hearings.

*As a federal depository library, the UI Libraries receives many statistical resources directly from the federal government. In addition, the UI Libraries purchase—on microfiche—the non-depository titles contained in ASI, resulting in access to virtually 100% of the statistical titles indexed in ASI.
