Federal Depository Library Conference Award

The Federal Depository Library Conference Award is given biennially to an Iowa GODORT member to assist with the cost of attending the Spring or Fall Federal Depository Library Conference. The purpose of the award is to support continuing education in documents librarianship and to promote greater understanding of current Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) issues.

• The Award Committee consists of the immediate past president (who serves as chair), the Secretary/Treasurer, and one additional member appointed by the chair.
• Eligible recipients are Iowa GODORT members.
• If multiple candidates submit award applications the following selection criteria will be applied: 1) Preference will be given to an individual who is currently working with government documents in an Iowa FDLP selective library; 2) has not attended a FDL Conference during the last five years; and 3) has not previously received the FDL Conference Award.
• The recipient will be given an award to use towards the cost of attending either the Spring or Fall FDL Conference of the year in which it is awarded. The GODORT Executive Board will determine the amount based on the budget for that year. The recommended award amount is up to $1,000.
• Applications for the award will be announced in the Iowa GODORT newsletter, GOVDOC-Iowa listserv, the Iowa Library Association listserv and during the autumn Iowa GODORT Business Meeting of the Iowa Library Association Conference.
• The recipient will be selected from qualified applicants whose request forms are received by the Awards Committee Chair on or before Dec. 30th of the year prior to the award.
• The recipient will be announced in January of the award year.
• The award will be given one month prior to the conference date. If a recipient is unable to attend the FDLP conference, they must return the award to the Treasurer of the Iowa Government Documents Roundtable.
