4. Continuing education credit for GODORT events
Getting GODORT events on state’s CE calendar located at http://www.nwils.lib.ia.us/class.html
Becky had contacted Michele Leininger for guidance on how to get listed on calendar and ensure credit is offered for our events but never received a response.

Barb Corson offered to work on this for us. She will have future GODORT events posted on the continuing education calendar and help make sure that attendees of our events get their continuing education credits. It was felt that adding GODORT events to the calendar will increase the group’s exposure to desired new audiences such as school and public library workers.
5. 2006 workshop and conference sessions
Ideas for 2006 Summer Workshop and sessions at 2006 ILA Conference. ILA planning retreat scheduled for Nov. 11.
We talked about programming that will be of interest to a various groups of library workers. The summer workshop will be in Iowa City on July 14, 2005. Ideas discussed included a tour of Old Capitol (which should be re-opened after the 2001 fire), an overview of medical and health information from a health sciences librarian, “Iowa Information on the web”, “50 sites in 50 minutes”, “format frustration” in terms of the Iowa Code and the possibility of a law librarian teaching use of the Iowa Code. The idea of visiting the Iowa City branch of the State historical society was later discussed.
We also discussed the idea of directing the organization’s focus to government information as a means of increasing interest and vitality to the group. People sometimes understand Government documents as something separate and different (i.e. via the depository programs), but everyone has public service questions that can be addressed through government information resources. Knowing about these sources improves services to patrons.
