Register here for the 2009 GODORT Summer Workshop being held on July 24th at St. Ambrose University. $10 for Iowa GODORT Members, $15 for ILA Members and $20 for Non-ILA Members. The spotlight will be on Iowa.
Des Moines Public Library: Marci Behm highlights a Gov Doc of the Week via e-mail to all six DMPL locations. She sends a link to the electronic resource, provides an explanation, and describes how to use and how to find it. She emphasizes the browsing feature of USA.gov, so staff aren't overwhelmed trying to remember web sites.

The Federal Depository Conference Award was created as a way to help fund travel to an FDL Conference for an Iowa GODORT member, however, there have been no applicants since it was established in 2004-05. Here's the link to information about the award: http://www.lib.uiowa.edu/govpubs/ilagodort/fdlc/index.html . Although it was a noble cause, it is not one that members have pursued. It seems appropriate to utilize GODORT funds in more productive ways. So, the process has begun to retire the award and provide opportunities for the community to comment before it is officially decommissioned. Feel free to send your comments to any of the GODORT officers.

Before the September Iowa GODORT Newsletter is released, the GODORT web site will move to the Iowa Library Association servers, so the URL for all things GODORT will change. Rather than relying on the University of Iowa's servers, ILA will provide a more permanent and accessible location for GODORT information in compliance with institution standards.
