Federal Depository Library Program symbol Joint Publications Research Service (JPRS) Report

Introduction

Founded in 1957 to serve as an interagency clearinghouse for U.S. agencies needing translations, JPRS is the largest source of English translations in the world. Translations are of non-English newspapers, speeches, journals, scientific and technical reports, and some broadcasts from foreign countries. Although microfiche dates from 1974 (as does the index), original documents date from the late 1950s.
