Produced by the Federal Defense History Program (Committee on Records of War Administration), this collection was assembled to document the administration of civilian life, particularly the economy, during wartime. Topics include war production, price stabilization, transportation and shipping, manpower and rationing.

World War II section of guide consists of fascimiles of catalog cards in dictionary catalog order, i.e. a merged catalog with main entries (usually the issuing agencies), added entries, title and subject entries. The Korean War section is an enumeration of the microfilm reels and the documents contained on each reel, no other entry points provided.
