How to Find An Article

This guide assumes you already have a citation* in hand. If not, choose a database from the Databases page and do a literature (subject) search.

Do you have a journal abbreviation and need to know the full title?
Check PubMed's Journals Database.

Check to see if the journal is available electronically:

  1. Check University Libraries InfoLink EJournals Search page
  2. Check InfoHawk Catalog
  3. Check Hardin's list of Free Scholarly Journals

Check InfoHawk to see if the journal is available in print

  1. Is the journal at Hardin Library? See: Find Print Journals below
  2. Is the journal at another library on-campus? See: Finding Print Journals below
  3. Is the journal checked out, at the bindery or missing? Request the item through Interlibrary Loan.
  4. No entry in InfoHawk? Request the item through Interlibrary Loan.

Finding Print Journals

You have two choices:

  1. Come to the library, retrieve the journal, and make photocopies.**
    If the journal is located at another on-campus library check here for directions, maps, or contact information. Or,
  2. Request an Article Delivery Service ($3.00 minimum per article)

Not on shelf?

  1. Check the reshelving area.
  2. Check near the Copy Center / copy machines.
  3. Contact staff at the Circulation Desk and request a "search". We will look for the item and contact you when we find it.
