This photograph depicts the rash that appeared on the back of a Marburg patient (case #2) who was treated in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1975. This type of maculopapular rash, which can appear on Marburg patients around the fifth day after the onset of symptoms, usually may be found on the patient’s chest, back and stomach. This patient’s skin blanched under pressure, which is a common characteristic of a Marburg virus rash.
