This is an image of a girl treated at the New York - Presbyterian Hospital with skin lesions on the back due chickenpox. The highest incidence of chickenpox has recently been among infants and children 1 - 4 years of age, i.e. 100.4 cases per 1,000 infants and children, probably due to the early exposure to VZV (varicella-zoster virus) in preschool and child care settings. Picture & text from CDC/PHIL. For more information see Chickenpox Pictures from CDC |
