This colposcopic view of this patient’s cervix reveled an eroded ostium due to Neisseria gonorrhea infection. A chronic Neisseria gonorrhea infection can lead to complications, which can be apparent such as this cervical inflammation, and some can be quite insipid, giving the impression that the infection has subsided, while treatment is still needed. Picture & text from CDC/PHIL. For more information see Gonorrhea Pictures from CDC |
