This micrograph depicts the buccal cavity morphology of a hookworm, during its rhabditiform, early noninfectious larval stage. The human hookworms include two nematodes, i.e., roundworm, species, Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus. Larvae can become infective, i.e., filariform stage, within feces and/or soil, and can then be passed to humans on contact.. Picture & text from CDC/PHIL.
