This is a ventral view of a larval Ixodide, Dermacentor marginatus hard tick that has been cleared and mounted. This tick specie is known to be a vector for Tick-borne encephalitis virus, caused by a member of the Tick-borne encephalitis virus complex, Flaviviridae, and Q fever, which is caused by the bacteria Coxiella burnetii.
