Submitting a list of materials for library course reserve now includes an implied acknowledgement that the instructor has determined that the items on that list satisfy the requirements for fair use or that the instructor has or is seeking copyright clearance.
Copyright and Fair Use considerations for course readings
- A maximum of 25 total items per course is suggested. Only required readings should be included.
- Complete all the information requested on the form. Materials will be removed at the end of the current semester.
- List books and journal articles separately. Include full citations with each entry. Citations must include journal/book title, article/chapter title, publisher, volume/edition, date and page numbers, as appropriate.
- Books: Include call numbers and indicate the reserve loan period (2 hour or 3 day). Books not owned by the library will be ordered as rush items. Triple space entries alphabetically by book author or editor.
- Journal articles and book chapters: may take longer to place on reserve. If a chapter from a book is included, the book must be in the book section of your reserve list. Because of copyright law, only a single chapter from a book can be placed on electronic reserve. If you need more than one chapter, the entire book must be placed on reserve.
Contact Mark Onken or call 335-6686 if you have any questions regarding
the operation of the reserve system or to renew a list currently
on reserve.
