Study Areas

Study areas are available on all 4 floors of the Hardin Library  4th floor study area

Study Tables and Carrels

  • Group study tables are available throughout the library.
  • Individual study carrels are available on 3rd and 4th floors.

Group Study Rooms/Areas

  • Group Study Room Reservation Form for group study rooms on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors
  • Groups may use Information Commons classrooms (2nd floor) when they are not reserved for classes (open use)
  • Study tables on the 1st floor and 3rd floor and in the Information Commons East (2nd floor) can be used for group work. Although these are not considered quiet areas, we ask that you speak softly.

Quiet Study Rooms/Areas

Certain areas of Hardin are designated as quiet areas:

  • Information Commons West, 2nd floor
  • The entire 4th floor, including approximately 17 individual quiet studies that are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Faculty Studies | Lockers

Approximately 15 individual studies on the 4th floor can be reserved by faculty. For more information on this service, please contact Deanna Poe (319-335-9871) in Hardin’s Administrative Offices.

24 Hour Study

A section of the library on the 3rd floor is kept open all night when the library is closed.  Access is restricted to UI faculty, students, and staff with AMAG cards or AMAG-equipped badges.  Computers and wireless internet are available in this area.
