Who can help me begin my paper or research project?
- Ask in person for research assistance at any library information or reference desk. Don't know where to start? Begin here...
- Additional help is available through the UI Libraries' research consultation service. Students or faculty working on research projects may request an appointment with a library specialist who will assist in locating resources. See the Research Consultation Appointments form to make your request.
- In the Main Library, reference help is available on 1st floor, Main Information/Reference Desk. See also campus libraries.

How can I teach myself to use the library?
Books, magazine and newspaper titles, audio recordings, videos and other resources may first be located by searching our InfoHawk library catalog. You may ask for directions at any information or reference desk, instant message (IM) service, telephone us, or e-mail.

Who can help if I want the library to purchase a book, journal or other item?
- To recommend library purchase of a book or other item, submit an online Purchase Request e-Form.
- For magazine and journal subscriptions, contact Acquisitions (319-335-5877). Your request will be forwarded to the appropriate staff person for consideration.
