InfoHawk...How Do I Use It?
How can I find out if you have a book?
You can find out if the UI Libraries owns a book by searching the InfoHawk Catalog. For items not found in the online catalog, please ask a librarian.
How do I learn to use InfoHawk?
Questions may be referred to the Main Library Information Desk (first floor, phone 335-5299) or to information desks at any branch library.
Patrons may also chat on-line with a member of the library staff through the Chat Online service.
For printed assistance, patrons may help themselves to any of the InfoHawk handouts on the rack across from the Information Desk, first floor central, Main Library. Handouts are also available online through the Instructional Services Web site.
Note also the 'help' links on the top bar of all InfoHawk Catalog screens.
What is
InfoLink?
InfoLink buttons appear in
the library catalog and many of the subscription databases.
InfoLink provides a selection of services related to the
record you are viewing. Click on InfoLink to: see if the full
text of an item is available online for immediate access;
check the UI library catalog to see if the journal or book is
in the library; or get assistance from a librarian. The button may have a
different appearance in some databases. InfoLink buttons
appear only in the databases that allow InfoLink
functionality.
In the example below, the article “Content Reading Assessment: A Rethinking of Methodology,” published in The Clearing House, is available in full text through the database EBSCOhost Academic Search Elite.

For more information about InfoLink, see the InfoLink FAQ.
