Browse Searching

Browse Searching may be done only from the Basic Search Screen.

Use a browse search to retrieve information on a specific title, to see all works by a known author, or to see all works on a particular subject. Browse searching allows you to scroll through an alphabetical or numerical list, much like an index at the back of a book or the list of names in a telephone directory. Browse searching is available for the following types of information within the UI Libraries Catalog:

To begin a browse search, choose the type of information you would like to search from the drop down menu, enter your search terms in the box to the right, and click “Search”. Selecting the "Author beginning…" search and entering "Kafka" will give you an alphabetical list of authors starting at "Kafka".

If your search is unsuccessful, or you do not know an exact title, author, etc., try using a keyword search.
