Within some catalogs, you can access your library account to view the items you have out on loan, to renew non-reserve loans that are shorter than a semester, and to monitor the items you have recalled, ordered or asked to be searched.
To access this information, click on “My Account” at the top of the screen. A box will appear asking you to type in your User ID. (Typically this is your social security number, unless library staff have told you that it is a number from your barcoded library card.) You will also need to type in your password, which is initially set to match your user ID. It is highly recommended that you change the password. If you do forget your password, library staff can reset it for you. After entering your User ID and your password, click on the “Send” button.
You are taken to a screen entitled “User Info.” Here you can see how many items you have checked out and how many items you have requested (recalls, searches or orders).
Click on the highlighted word “Loans” to see a list of the items you have checked out. To renew or to see further details about a loan (such as proxy information or when the item was checked out), click on the link “Renewal Info.” If the item can be renewed, there will be a link “Click HERE to renew.” Once you’ve clicked on this link and the renewal is successful, the box will disappear. You will want to locate the item in your list of loans to determine the new due date. If the renewal isn’t successful, you will get an explanatory error message. If you have questions about the inability to renew the item, there will be a link to the various circulation departments’ emails.
Click on the highlighted word “Requests” to see a list of the items you have recalled, ordered, or asked to be searched for you.
To insure your privacy, you should make it a habit to click on the “End Session” link at the top of the catalog screen to erase your search history and to close your library account information.
