Iowa Map Collection
As a participant in the Iowa Heritage Digital Collections (IHDC) project , the University of Iowa Libraries Map Collection has completed the digitization of the 202 maps and photographic plates in the 1904 Huebinger Atlas of the State of Iowa.  We have now begun to digitize and mount maps from early Iowa county landownership atlases.

American Memory Project – Maps
Many types of digitized maps are available from the Library of Congress American Memory Project, including panoramic city maps and railroad maps.

David Rumsey Collection
This digital collection focuses on 18th and 19th century North and South American cartographic materialSs.

Digital Sanborn Maps (1867-1970) (UI access only)
Sanborn map images for the United States are available online for individuals affiliated with the university.

The Historical Atlas of the Twentieth Century
This atlas has many world maps: cities; governments; wars; international relations; living conditions; economics. Some resources back to Roman times, though the 20th century is the emphasis. It provides references to statistical sources, and it may be used to answer such questions as: Which countries have democratic systems and for how long? Which cities in the world are largest and which were largest earlier in the century? Statistical sources are referenced.
