Recalls and Missing Items

Recalls

Long term loans may be recalled.  If an item is needed for reserve, it may be requested back in the library immediately.  If an item is being recalled for another person, then the recall due date the first borrower is assigned should allow him/her access to the item for at least two weeks (from the original check-out.)  The overdue fine for late recalls is $4.00/day.

Missing Items

If a patron needs a Mathematical Sciences Library item and cannot find it, they should contact staff at the Mathematical Sciences Library.  Staff will search for the missing material.  If they are unable to find it, the item's record will be assigned a "Missing" status, and the patron will be referred to the InterLibrary Loan department for assistance in acquiring a copy of the item.  It's necessary to report the item as missing before going to the InterLibrary Loan office, because personnel there will see the record for the item in the libraries' catalog (InfoHawk) and send the patron right back to the Mathematical Sciences Library for that copy, unless they have 'official' notice that the item is missing from the collection.
