My Personal Librarian:
Emily Shaw is the Digital Preservation Librarian. In a nutshell, Emily’s job is to help decide what to digitize from the Libraries’ collections and how to do it, and to ensure that all the important digital stuff we’re creating today (photos, videos, spreadsheets, PDFs, Word Documents, etc.) is preserved for future generations. She works closely with other librarians and staff in Special Collections, Preservation & Conservation, Library IT, and the Digital Research and Publishing Department. You can usually find Emily up on the 5th floor of the Main Library, at the end of Boolean Boulevard. Emily attended Barnard College in New York City, and went to graduate school at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She enjoys cooking, riding her bike, reading, watching movies, traveling to see family and friends across the country, and finds her work endlessly interesting and challenging.
