Talk About Just Living Video Project

Join the Just Living Theme Semester and the One Button Studio to talk about how you are Just Living! Using the One Button Studio, record a brief video reflecting on what social justice means to you and submit it to be featured for a semester-long video project. It is a user-friendly way to practice presentations and record yourself. It can be used free of charge by UI faculty, staff, and students, and community members.

How to Participate

  1. Click on the Video Release Form link listed below to sign and submit the release form.
  2. Prepare a short 2-3 statement using one of the following prompts. Use the Best Practices page for tips on how to create and record a good presentation.
  3. Use the reservation instructions found here to reserve the One Button Studio.
  4. Record your statement using the One Button Studio using the instructions found here. To use the One Button Studio you’ll need to bring a USB drive. When you are recording please make sure the green screen is on.
  5. Rename your recording using the following name: Last Name_First Name_Instructor Last Name[optional].mp4
  6. Save your recording to your Office 365 OneDrive account by logging into office365.uiowa.edu with your HawkID and password.
  7. Share your recording by right-clicking on the file and selecting Share. Next type Learning Commons in the text box and select Can Edit from the drop down menu. click Share.

Tabling Sessions

We’ll be hosting several tabling events throughout the semester at the Main Library to promote the project where people can stop by and get help writing their speech, using the OBS (we’ll be giving away free USB drives to anyone who stops by). Join us at the One Button Studio during one of our tabling sessions and get a little extra help!

  • Get additional speaking tips from the Speaking Center
  • Get support using the One Button Studio from Library staff
  • Find out about other Just Living activities and events
  • Once you’ve submitted your video you’ll receive a free USB drive!

  • Friday, January 22nd, 11am-1pm, Hardin Library for the Health Sciences
  • Tuesday, February 2nd, 4-6pm, Main Library
  • Thursday, March 10th, 11am-1pm, Main Library
  • Wednesday, April 20th, 4-6pm, Hardin Library
