JACKSON, WILLIAM HENRY, 1843-1942. William Henry Jackson Photographs. "Illustrations of Typical North American Indians." 1860s-1877. 12 oversize boxes,1 oversize page, 2 album visual finding aid, 1 box negatives, 1 album slides Jackson was a photographer and pioneer in the American west. This collection is the work of several photographers, some not credited, and includes some of Jackson's photographs. The images likely correspond to a scrapbook that was one of nine such scrapbooks originally created by the Bureau of American Ethnology. MsC539. (Finding Aid)

About 2600 sheets of decorative papers and fabrics collected by Fred James, Jr. from the 1930s through the 1960s. The bulk of the collection consists of papers made for bookbinding purposes (hand and machine marbled, printed) with smaller numbers of wrapping and other decoratively printed papers. The fabrics include some fine Japanese silks. MsC559.

*JOHNSON, DOROTHY M. Papers of Dorothy M. Johnson, 1896-1958. 1 ft.
Editor, novelist and professor of journalism at the University of Montana. Typescript drafts and related correspondence for several short stories and her novel, The Hanging Tree. JOHNSON, NICHOLAS, 1934- . Papers of Nicholas Johnson, 1949-1991. 400 ft.
Writer, lawyer, lecturer. Johnson was born in Iowa City; took undergraduate and law degrees at the University of Texas at Austin; clerked with Chief Justice Hugo Black; taught law at Berkeley; and worked briefly for the Washington firm of Covington & Burling. Became Maritime Administrator in the Department of Commerce 1964-1966; Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission 1966-1973.
