  Laptops & The Wireless Network:  The ITC Student Laptop Checkout Service offers the opportunity to borrow laptop computers for personal academic use—now from information desks at the Main and Hardin libraries

• Course Reserves
  Instructors place "on reserve" certain materials--book chapters, films, art items, e.g.--for short-term loan to students. The library catalog COURSE RESERVES database includes most materials placed in reserves. NOTE: Electronic or e-reserves (e.g., PDF’s, website links) are available to students through ICON.

• Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Services
  Borrow research materials not owned by the University of Iowa Libraries through interlibrary loan from other libraries.  Also, journal articles or book chapters from journals owned by the University of Iowa Libraries can be scanned and provided electronically through document delivery.

• Reference and Informational Services

  Contact a campus library through IM®, online form, personal desk assistance, appointment, telephone, or e-mail for information, research or instructional help

• Research Consultation Appointments

  Contact a librarian for assistance with research that pertains to a specific project or thesis  Directory of Subject Specialists

• Government Publications Collections on the first and third floors of the Main Library

• Instructional Services Instructors may request a library session or link to instructional material

• Iowa Research Online The University of Iowa's Institutional Repository, a dynamic archive of the research produced by faculty, researchers, and students, from published articles in peer-reviewed journals to presentations, theses, dissertations, and unpublished papers.

• Library Cards

  Find information on how to check out materials, including what identification is necessary for the UI community and information about proxy cards.

• Media Collection

  Non-print materials such as newspapers on microfilm, recorded lectures, movies on film, videotape, DVD and laser disc, and nonmusical audio cassettes and vinyl records

• Scholarly Communication News on publishing, author rights and tenure

• Service Request Forms Contact a librarian, make a purchase request, renew or recall a book, request distance education services, submit an interlibrary loan request and much more

• Technology and Multimedia Library resources in support of technological progress in teaching, learning, and research

• Thesis Binding The Preservation Department binds personal copies of theses or dissertations for University of Iowa graduates.

• Independent Scholars Independent Scholars are researchers not associated with the University of Iowa who will be here for an extended period of time and are sponsored by faculty or DEOs

• Library Users with Disabilities It is the mission of the University of Iowa Libraries to provide equal means to research for everyone who visits the libraries

• Retired UI Faculty and Staff Retired and emeritus UI faculty and staff are eligible for most library services

• Students enrolled in a UI Distance Education Course

  Reference assistance and consultation services as well as document delivery are available to students enrolled in distance education courses at the University of Iowa

• UI Faculty and Staff at Oakdale Campus Library delivery services are available for faculty and staff located at The University of Iowa Research Park, Oakdale campus

• UI Post-Comp Candidates Certain library services are available to post-comp (post-comprehensive examination) doctoral candidates enrolled in 000:002 Doctoral Continuous Registration

• Visitors Library cards and on-campus computer use only are provided to visitors at any of the libraries
