John Black was a student in the medical program of the State University of Iowa (now The University of Iowa) in 1907-1908. An album of photographs with his name and the date November 1908 carefully pasted into the inside cover has recently been added to the University Archives. It was purchased with appropriated funds.

About half of the 86 images are taken in Iowa City and elsewhere in Iowa with the remainder views of Chicago.
