Digital Project Manager

This is a 50% FTE (20 hours/week) part-time, specified term position starting September 1, 2022 – December 2023.

This position is eligible for a combination of on-campus and remote work. Work arrangement options will be discussed during the hiring process.

 

The University of Iowa Libraries seeks to hire a Digital Project Manager (Research Associate classification PRK2/4A) to assist with the design, planning, and implementation of the “Salud, to your health: Resources for teaching health narratives in English and Spanish” project. The Digital Project Manager will report to the Director of the Digital Scholarship & Publishing Studio and work in close cooperation with Studio staff and primary investigators.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as point of contact for faculty PIs, managing workflows, expectations, and timelines in accordance with the 16-month project development window
  • Support development of project website
  • Collect resource PDFs from project directors, solicit content from participants identified by project directors
  • Optimize PDFs for web delivery (OCR, accessibility, file size)
  • Add design elements to PDFs (branding, cover page, normalize layouts)
  • Build pages/posts for resource PDFs within overall site structure
  • Attend applicable system training sessions
  • Manage submissions and editorial workflow
  • Assign article reviewers
  • Schedule journal issue publication in consultation with project directors
  • Develop and maintain journal front end interface (in consultation with Studio staff: Graphic Designer, Digital Scholarship & Collections Librarian).

 

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of one year related experience
  • Demonstrated experience designing, building, and maintaining websites
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, PDF editing, and optimization
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity in an academic environment, in a workplace setting, and/or in the community.
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS

 

DESIRABLE:

  • Experience with user research/usability methods, web analytics, accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1+, content strategy and management
  • Experience with responsive design and website best practices
  • Experience with Omeka, Janeway, or similar digital publishing platforms
  • Extensive knowledge of JavaScript / JavaScript Libraries and other front-end technologies
