Presented by Erin Kaufman, Graduate College.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>September 22- Introduction to LaTeX Editor<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>LaTeX\u202fnot only creates\u202fprofessional-looking documents\u202fbut also allows\u202fyou\u202fto tackle the more complicated parts of typesetting, such as inputting mathematics, creating tables of contents, referencing and creating bibliographies.\u202fInstead of\u202fdownloading, installing and trouble-shooting\u202fLaTeX software and packages\u202flocally in\u202fyour computer,\u202fyou can\u202ftake advantage of the\u202fonline LaTeX editor\u202fcalled Overleaf.\u202fIn this workshop, we\u202fwill\u202fuse Overleaf and\u202fcover LaTeX\u202fbasics,\u202fbibliographic management\u202fin LaTeX\u202fand\u202fcollaboration with others on a LaTeX\u202fdocument. Presented by Robert Peck, Speaking Center.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>October 27- Understanding the Publishing Process: Behind the Scenes with IEEE<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This workshop will cover:\n<ul>\n<li>Tips for selecting an appropriate IEEE periodical or conference<\/li>\n<li>How successful IEEE authors structure quality work to improve their chances of being accepted<\/li>\n<li>Insights into what editors look for in a submission and why editors and reviewers reject papers<\/li>\n<li>Tools &amp; resources to help authors through the publishing process including IEEE&#8217;s Author Center,Publication Recommender, and Reference Preparation Assistance<\/li>\n<li>Strategies for using IEEE Xplore effectively for a literature review.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Presented by Jalyn Kelley, IEEE Client Services Manager.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>November 10- Intellectual Property<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cIntellectual property\u201d may sound like an oxymoron\u2014how can anyone own your brain? But whether you plan to stay in academia, work for a company, or strike out on your own as a freelancer or an entrepreneur, your intellectual creations are likely to have an impact on your future success. This presentation will cover the basics of patents, copyrights, and other forms of protecting intellectual property. This workshop will help you understand how to interpret \u201cstandard\u201d scholarly metrics (h-index, impact factor, CiteScore etc.) and where to find them, explore three major sources of citation data (Web of Science, Scopus and Google Scholar), and identify best practices on broadening your research impact.
