{"id":901,"date":"2019-02-22T21:12:30","date_gmt":"2019-02-22T21:12:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lib.uiowa.edu\/gallery\/?page_id=901"},"modified":"2025-03-24T21:43:21","modified_gmt":"2025-03-24T21:43:21","slug":"ui-presidents","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.lib.uiowa.edu\/gallery\/ui-presidents\/","title":{"rendered":"UI Presidential Portrait Gallery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">The Main Library\u2019s fifth floor is home for the Presidential Portrait Gallery, featuring artists\u2019 original portraits of the University of Iowa\u2019s presidents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Most of the portraits were commissioned during each president\u2019s lifetime. Visitors will see a variety of portraiture styles done in various media, including oil, drawing, and photograph. The portraits are displayed with an overview of each leader\u2019s tenure and accompanying images showing the campus during that time period.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">These portraits depict leaders who guided the University of Iowa from its humble beginnings to its prominence today as an institution that excels and innovates in scholarship, teaching, and service.
