This workshop will provide useful tips for organizing your data in spreadsheets. Then we'll spend time using free tools like OpenRefine that can save you a lot of time when reviewing and cleaning up tabular data. This workshop can be tailored for specific groups and disciplines. A good plan may help you provide a more competitive proposal. We\u2019ll cover the foundational elements of these plans, campus resources and policies you can include in the plan, and look at some examples. This session will help you create a useful and well-written plan that meets the requirements and can be put into practice in your project. We\u2019ll dig into each section of a plan, including: describing the types of data for your proposed project; standards for data and metadata; selecting a repository; addressing preservation and access requirements; and considerations for access, reuse and redistribution. Examples and UI and NIH resources will be discussed. This workshop will introduce you to Open Educational Resources (OER), free and openly licensed teaching resources that you can use instead of commercial textbooks. OER can be edited, combined with other resources, and tailored to meet the needs of your particular courses. This workshop can help new scholars navigate the process of choosing journals for submission. It allows everyone to read and build on your work, not just other university-affiliated researchers. This is great news for readers and authors, but paying for article processing charges (APCs) is not such great news.
