Web guidelines for content editors: Links

When creating links, keep in mind the following rules from WebAIM (Web Accessibility In Mind) :

When linking to a page in SharePoint, add “Authentication required” next to the link.

Also keep in mind that if you intend the web page to be printed, the URLs may need to appear. If a URL is too long, abbreviate it with a URL shortener, such as bitly.  For example, InfoHawk+ record URLs like the following would be considered too long for a handout:


It would be better to shorten the link with bit.ly: http://bit.ly/2dHmSDO
