Libraries Annex

The University of Iowa Libraries Annex is a high-density storage facility home to over 1 million volumes. This 60,100 square-foot facility features a maximum-capacity of 4.8 million volumes and houses collections from all campus libraries. Materials of all formats are shelved by size in a temperature and humidity controlled environment.

Items at the Libraries Annex may be requested through the library’s website, with document delivery, office delivery, and branch-library pickup available for Annex materials. On-site use of Annex materials is also available by appointment.

Directions and accessibility

The Libraries Annex is located off Highway 6 on Independence Road. Heading East on Highway 6, turn left (North) onto 420th Street. From there, turn left onto Independence Road. The Libraries Annex is at the end of Independence Road, with our entrance facing the right-side (East) parking lot.


Free parking, including two accessible spaces, is available for visitors in front of the Libraries Annex.
