Strategic Plan 2022–2027
Introduction
The University of Iowa Libraries 2022–2027 Strategic Plan represents the collective effort of the Libraries’ staff and outlines the Libraries’ mission, vision, values, goals, and objectives.
Each goal includes a list of objectives that indicate how the Libraries will concentrate its efforts over the term of the plan. The Strategic Plan is intended to be a living document and objectives are intended to be evidence-based. New objectives may be added in order to respond to strategic changes that occur on campus or in the library community.
Mission
The University of Iowa Libraries advances direct engagement in learning, research, creative work, and clinical care through staff expertise and access to exceptional collections on our campus and worldwide.
Vision
The University of Iowa Libraries aspires to be a leader in the research library community. We will provide access as openly as possible to our comprehensive and distinctive collections. We will follow best practices to preserve our collections for future scholars. We will recruit and retain expert and responsive staff to lead and transform information services and innovative collaborations. We will enhance our adaptive learning spaces and our technologies and platforms to support research and the creation of knowledge. We will promote critical inquiry in an environment dedicated to the open exchange of information.

Goals and Objectives
Student success
Objective: Develop and maintain environments that foster a sense of belonging and provide all students with access to resources and learning experiences that support personal and professional goal attainment, while promoting collaboration, respect, creativity, and lifelong learning.
Research and creative discovery
Objective: Creatively transform services, collections, and spaces to be innovative, accessible, and responsive to the research, scholarly, and creative discovery needs of the academic community through user-centered engagement and close collaboration with campus and other partners.
Staff engagement/empowerment
Objective: Identify opportunities to optimize operational efficiency by creating a culture of collaboration, engagement, and trust; fostering innovation; and maximizing partnerships to increase impact. Invest in staff through professional development and recognition.
