Main Storage

Items from Main Storage can be requested via the Delivery Request form.

There is a separate storage area for items from the Reference Department.  Please contact staff at the appropriate desk for retrieval of items from that storage area.

Main Storage is a collection of items that the Main Library, Hardin, or a branch library has sent to storage because of a lack of space.  Main Storage is in the basement of the Main Library, and items are shelved according to the date that the item was sent to Storage.

Retrieval

Items can be retrieved from Storage by staff at Circulation Services, first floor south end at the Main Library.  On-demand retrieval ends 15 minutes before this desk closes.  It may be helpful to check the hours for Access Services (Circulation & Reserve Services).

Requests to retrieve and hold items from Main Storage can be made by using the Delivery Request form link at the bottom of the InfoHawk record.  Items can be held for you either at the Main Library, Hardin Library or at a branch library, usually within a few working days.

Loan Policy

Journals: circulate on a 4-week loan, with unlimited renewals. Items checked out on InfoHawk can be renewed through the My Account feature in InfoHawk.  Items can also be renewed by email, list, phone, or mail.  All items are subject to recall by other library users.

Items with call numbers:  Faculty and P&S have a 1 June loan, Graduate and Honors students have a loan due in either January or June, and all others have a 4-week loan. Renewals are unlimited.  Short-term (4-week loans) checked out on InfoHawk can be renewed through the My Account feature in InfoHawk.  Items can also be renewed by email, list, phone, or mail. Books on long-term loan (Faculty, Graduate, and Honors students) need to be brought into a library for renewal.  All items are subject to recall by other library users.

InfoHawk

If an item you want is in Storage, you will need to contact staff at Circulation Services.  Staff will need the date the item went into Storage.  Staff also needs either the call number of the book or the full title of the journal and complete volume information.

The brief record in InfoHawk does not give you the Storage date.  Use the [Display Availability] link to find the date the item went into Storage and if it is checked out.  This is also the screen with the link to the Delivery Request form.

Sometimes these can be complicated – and yes, “ORIGINAL” is a Storage Date!

Dewey Decimal Numbers

Books with these numbers are usually in Storage.  Sometimes a Storage Date is noted in InfoHawk, sometimes it is not.  Therefore, please check with Circulation for these books.
