Barbara Dewey served as director of information and research services for University of Iowa Libraries since 1995, and before that was director of information and research services and also served as director of administrative and access services.  She came to Iowa in 1987 as the assistant to the University Librarian.  Dewey also has worked at Indiana University’s School of Library and Information Science and Northwestern University Libraries.

Projects she helped develop at Iowa include the Center for Teaching and Information Systems Technology, the Scholarly Digital Resources Center, and the Center for Electronic Resources in African Studies.

Dewey earned the bachelor’s degree in anthropology and sociology and the master’s in library science from the University of Minnesota.  Dewey left the UI to become Dean of Libraries at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
