Food and drink are allowed in the Art Library, however they are restricted from some areas such as on book shelves and near computers, scanners, printers, the microfilm reader, etc.
We highly recommend keeping beverages in tightly covered containers.
It is the individual’s responsibility to throw away wrappers, containers, and other trash in the appropriate trash receptacles. Please don’t leave a mess and report major spills to library staff immediately, so we can arrange for the appropriate clean-up.
The Art Library wants to maintain an environment that is appropriate for the protection of library materials and conducive to study. Food and beverages attract rodents, cockroaches, silverfish and other unwanted pests that damage library materials. By complying with the policies, users and staff will help maintain a clean work environment, pest-free buildings, and aid in the preservation of our collections for future generations, while responsibly enjoying some food and drink.
Complaints will be handled by library staff in accordance with the Disruptive Behavior clause of the Conduct in the University of Iowa Libraries Basic Policy Governing Public Use.
