“The University of Iowa School of Social Work had business cards made for Bill, giving him the title ‘clinical optimist,’ in addition to listing his role as the proprietor of Wild Bill’s Coffee Shop. When Tom Walz initially hired Bill for as-yet-undetermined duties in the school, the position was reportedly listed as ‘Disabilities Consultant’ and it was noted in his file that he had 44 years of experience—the span of time he was institutionalized at Faribault.”
