From the exhibit:

Founded in 1970, Iowa City Pride has hosted countless celebratory and educational events in Iowa City for over 50 years. Most notably, the organization puts on Iowa City Pride each June to commemorate the Stonewall Riots and the advancements of LGBTQ rights that the uprising sparked. Working in collaboration with local businesses, organizations, and the city government, Iowa City Pride provides opportunities for the diverse LGBTQ community in Iowa City to show up as their whole selves and be celebrated for their unique perspectives, experiences, and identities.
