The Undergraduate Engagement Department at the University of Iowa Libraries is dedicated to making our undergraduate students feel welcomed, enriched, and empowered while engaging with our spaces, resources, and staff. We work with colleagues from across campus to support students in achieving their personal and professional goals.
For students, we are:
- in the Main Library, helping with research projects at the Just Ask Desk and in one-on-one consultations appointments
- in the classroom, partnering with instructors to teach information literacy lessons and introductions to the Libraries
- at orientations, providing information about the study spaces and expert help that can be found across our campus libraries
- at outreach events, helping students register to vote, take study breaks, enjoy our rich resources, and much more
- gathering feedback, partnering with student organizations, and listening to what students need from our spaces and services
For faculty, staff, and community members, we can be your first point of contact for questions regarding:
- Instruction for Rhetoric, TRIO, and any other groups that don’t fall neatly into a discipline covered by our liaison librarians
- The Perch
- The SEAM Evening Research Assistance
- Outreach and instruction for visiting K-12 schools
- Information literacy assignment design, curriculum development, and library integrations with your ICON course
Please don’t hesitate to be in touch if you would like to partner with us or need our assistance.
