Data Management Essentials
If you're doing research, chances are you’re collecting and managing research data. Small changes to your data management practices can make a big difference during research and when you are ready to share the results.

Topics covered in this session: how to securely store and organize your data; keep track of changes to your files; create documentation/metadata; and submit your data for publication. These practices will ensure that everyone, including you, can use and reuse your data in the weeks, months, and years to come.

Data Sharing and Publication
You’ve received funding for a project, and your research funder expects you to share the data. Or perhaps you are working on an article, and the journal requires you to share your data. In this workshop, we’ll walk through the process of preparing data for sharing or publication, important decisions to make, and ways to enable your data to have a broader impact.

NIH Data Management & Sharing Plans
Practical tips to create a well-written plan that meets NIH requirements and can be put into practice in your project. You'll see examples as well as comments that NIH has shared after reviewing plans.

Covers each element of a plan: describing the types of data for your proposed project; standards for data and metadata; selecting a repository; addressing preservation and access requirements; and considerations for access, reuse and redistribution.

Data Management & Sharing Plans: NSF and Other Funders
We have extensive experience in providing assistance with data management and sharing plans for NSF and other funders (a separate option is provided above for NIH). We'll work with you to review and provide feedback on a plan, or assist you with creating a plan from scratch.

Please contact us when you or your group would like assistance.
