From a collection of original “Help Restore Our Wildlife” conservation stamps designed by Ding Darling for the National Wildlife Federation, 1938. Jay N. “Ding” Darling Papers [MsC0170], Special Collections and Archives.
This series of watercolor bird and mammal illustrations were used in the National Wildlife Restoration Week series of stamps to raise money for wildlife conservation. Created in 1938 from these original watercolors, the week took place on March 20–26 that year. The stamps were later reprinted in 1987.
